The tech team at Qubic is responsible for developing and shipping exciting new features of the Qubic Network, and today we’re proud to announce a new addition to the team. Please welcome Raika Sternensucher as our first female dev, a highly experienced Senior Researcher and Software Engineer, with expertise in Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Computer Vision, and AI, who has joined the Qubic Core developer team as a C++ Developer. With her background and fresh perspective, Raika will make a significant contribution to the development of the Qubic network’s core technologies. You can learn more about Raika’s professional background on her LinkedIn and GitHub profiles.

“I’m looking forward to learning from seasoned crypto experts, and at the same time bringing a fresh view and expertise to the Qubic core team,” Raika shared as she embarks on this new journey with Qubic.

From Google to Qubic

Raika joins Qubic after four years at Google, where she was part of the prestigious Augmented Reality Team. There, she worked on the next generation of AR technology, developing tools that could redefine how we interact with the digital world.

Her journey didn’t start at Google. Raika’s academic career is just as impressive. She earned her PhD in Computer Science from the Max Planck Institute for Informatics and Saarland University in Germany, focusing on real-time 3D hand reconstruction using a single camera. During her PhD, she received numerous awards for her work, and her expertise took her to Stanford University as a researcher and Meta Reality Labs Research (formely Facebook Reality Labs Research) as an intern.

Raika’s extensive experience makes her a perfect fit to work on the Qubic Core, where she’ll help optimise and extend this critical part of the network.

Contributing to Qubic’s Core

Raika will work on the Qubic Core, which is the heart of the Qubic network. She will help extend and optimise the core, applying her knowledge of C++ and parallel computing. These skills will be instrumental in enhancing the core’s performance and scalability, ensuring that it continues to meet the needs of Qubic’s growing network.

Her understanding of TCP communication will be valuable in working with the network aspects of the platform, ensuring that data transfers and communications are handled efficiently and securely.

Her familiarity with Linux, git, CMake, Boost, and container technologies will also be advantageous. These tools are key to maintaining efficient workflows and optimising the Qubic Core’s development.

Supporting the Quorum

Raika will be working with Qubic’s quorum consensus mechanism. This involves writing code that will be executed at every tick of the network, enabling key functionalities such as transferring QUBIC, validating AI trainer solutions, and allowing the community to vote on new features. Her work in this area will help ensure that Qubic’s decentralised system runs smoothly and securely.

Supporting Qubic's CLI and Smart Contracts

Part of Raika’s role will also include maintaining the essential qubic-cli, which is a key tool for interacting with the Qubic network. This command-line interface allows developers and users to build Qubic smart contracts and engage with the platform.

A Bright Future for Qubic

Raika’s addition to the Qubic team reinforces our commitment to attracting top talent with diverse expertise. Her experience in cutting-edge technologies like AR and AI will contribute to the growth and innovation of Qubic’s core technologies.
