Welcome to the latest bi-weekly update from the Qubic Steering Committee (SteCo). These updates are designed to keep our community informed and engaged with the latest developments. They highlight our ongoing projects, recent progress, and upcoming plans across various domains, including governance, listings, technology, marketing, community, and operations. Steco Governance

Hiring

  • Core Development: Franziska has joined the Core Development team.

  • Front End: Tarek has been on boarded as a front end developer.

  • Ecosystem Rep: We have hired an Ecosystem Growth Representative for the USA. More news to follow in a further announcement.

Marketing 

  • Golden Verification Badge on X: Achieved and team members added as affiliates to enhance coordination and visibility.

  • User and Developer Docs: Documentation is in progress, ensuring comprehensive guides for both users and developers.

  • Serotonin (Marketing/PR Agency): SteCo provided an in-depth overview of Qubic to Serotonin during this week's meeting.

  • Hootsuite: Integrated to optimize the timing and impact of our social media posts and announcements.

Hackathons

  • Bishkek Hackathon: Over 51 teams have applied, highlighting strong interest and participation.

  • Barcelona Hackathon: Scheduled for the week after Bishkek, keeping momentum across regions

Events

  • Seoul KBW: Preparations underway to showcase Qubic and network with key industry players.

  • Merge Event (Madrid): Confirmed for October, offering collaboration opportunities with other blockchain communities.

  • Argentina and El Salvador: Progressing on upcoming events to expand our presence in Latin America.

Grants Program

  • Landing Page: New design by Oreo is live, offering a better user experience for applicants.

  • New Grant Applications: Several new grant applications are under review, promising exciting contributions to Qubic.

  • First Grant Awarded: "QEarn" has received the first grant, marking a significant milestone for our program.

  • Sourcing C++ Developers: Core developers are assisting, with outreach to Silicon Valley developers underway.

  • Outreach Efforts: Actively contacting companies with strong records to attract high-quality grant applications.

Technology

  • SupplyWatcher SC: Fully operational, enhancing our ability to monitor and manage supply. 149 billion Qubic were burnt in the last epoch, just one week after the launch of Project X's new emissions model.

  • New Proposal SC: Online with optimised TickData; UI is pending, but CLI is available.

  • Event Logging: New features improve transparency and troubleshooting with detailed archiving.

  • Mining Algorithm Adjustments: Ongoing adjustments in version 4.9 to optimise network efficiency.

  • Qubic Idling: Initiated and open to ideas for maximising the utility of this feature.

Technology Events / Education

Technical Success Stories:

  • @luk hosted a successful technical AMA.

  • @Aleish made significant optimisations to Qubic docs.

  • @phil deployed important protocol extensions.

Upcoming Events and Where to Meet the Devs:

  • @linckode to attend the Bishkek Hackathon.

  • @joetom and team confirmed for the Barcelona Hackathon.

CCF Proposal

  • Donations: 8% of computing power to be donated to the CCF smart contract.

  • Proposal Requests: Open to everyone; fees could be burned to maintain system integrity.

  • Voting: Computors vote on payouts, following established Quorum rules.

  • Donations: Computers donate 8% to CCF SC

  • Proposal Requests: Everyone can request CCF SC for a payout, with every proposal costing 1 million QUBIC. Fees collected for proposal costs could be burned. Computors will vote on effective payout (tech details are worked out atm)

Operations & Finance

Objectives, Bets and Initiatives:

  • Creating Objectives, Bets and Initiatives: Last 6 weeks we have been creating creating objectives, bets and initiatives as an extension of our roadmap 

  • Goal of this structure: Is to create plans on what we want to achieve, why, how, when, who is accountable and how success is measured. 

  • Transparency and Accountability: It’s also intended to create more transparency and accountability in achieving our goals 

  • Tracking Progress: We have defined metrics or key-results for each objectives, bet and initiative, so we can track progress 

  • Reporting to the Community: We will report on these metrics to the community through dashboards that are being developed

Community

  • Telegram Moderators: The new team is @El_Clip, @Hash, @Satoshi, supported by @PeterB.

  • Chinese AMA: A Chinese AMA took place, conducted by @Xarkur, @Doge, and @EricF to align with our goals.

  • Wickbot: Running in Discord for verification, feedback requested @PeterB.

  • Content Update: a Q&A list is now on the website

  • Team Page: A new team page is available on the website

Partnerships: 

Token2049 Participation

  • Objective: Connect with existing and potential partners, including exchanges, market makers, wallet providers, Layer 1s, and DeFi protocols.

What is SteCo?

SteCo is the governance body of Qubic, elected by the “quorum” to ensure network security and streamline activities that drive Qubic’s growth.
